Al Dettmann (they/them) is a queer fibers artist focusing on mixed-media & fine art practices. Growing up in Maine, they have always been a creative spirit that loves exploring the natural environment and connecting with communities around the world. Earning their BFA in Fibers from Savannah College of Art and Design, they hope to share their love of color, hand-painted textures, and patchwork surfaces with communities of creatives. Based out of Brooklyn, NY, they are on their latest adventure growing their studio practice while instructing youth at the Textile Arts Center. With all of their work, their greatest passion is to uplift queer voices through art & design and constantly create wonders that inspire all of us to live our messy lives beautifully, boldly, and authentically.
